Last night, in clear -7 degree weather on the first night of the Copenhagen climate talks, about 50 high-spirited folks turned up to occupy a Gateway highway-widening site in East Van. Joining us were activists from throughout the region, including UBC Prof Patrick Condon.
Police threatened to remove people but in the end left, and we remained to delay construction for four hours. Lots of support from passersby, good fun and great practice for future actions.
Thanks to all of you who sent encouragement, climbed equipment, chanted and danced - more to come soon!
