So there's this new "grassroots" pro-Gateway group, called Get Moving BC. They just sent out a call for support, to all the members of BCAA (the automobile lobby), which reads:
"The opposition to the Gateway Program is well organized and, thus far, a countervailing group supporting the Gateway Project and economic development had been absent... Attached is information about "Get Moving BC," a newly established group, which is attempting to fill this void and counteract the negative publicity generated by the opponents of the Gateway Program. Get Moving BC is a non-profit, grassroots organization composed of individuals, businesses and organizations in the Greater Vancouver area advocating a balanced, efficient, and sustainable transportation infrastructure. To date, Get Moving BC has the support of the BC Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association, the Independent Construction Business Association, Canada Wide Magazines and others. "
Not that I would suspect the non-profit grassroots motives of the BC Roadbuilders and Heavy Construction Association. But it all seems just a tad...defensive.
In their plea for support and funding, Get Moving BC claims they have a moral duty to counter the voices of "various groups who are vocally protesting the Gateway Program," because "These groups have received significant attention in the media as their voices are disproportionately loud vis-à-vis their public base of support.
Yup, must be because we have so much money to buy out the media. Or cuz our daddies work for Hollinger. Or something.
Anyway, I really have to wonder: when was the last time you heard of a non-profit registering a ".com" URL?
It all sounds a bit fishy to me.

"And to answer a question from the maturely named GatewaySucks.org, which asked: "Anyway, I really have to wonder: when was the last time you heard of a non-profit registering a '.com' URL?"
Well, we also own GetMovingBC.ca, but GetMovingBC.com just rolls off the tongue better."
Hey Jordan, I wasn't implying that you couldn't own 2 URLs -- just that you should fire the social marketing hacks that came up with the name. They suck too.
A friend of mine got so irritated by their ignorance and mockery, that she actually decided to go to "getmovingbc.com" to actually leave a few angry messages, even if it's going to be constant and summon any ISPs. So she decided to use a trusted proxy to workaround any troubles...
But NOOO! Going there with a proxy server never seemed to get through.
I'm guessing they wanna fish out anyone who has legit info, and then get those folks into trouble by calling their ISP. Darn folks. Nothing but free speech censorship.
My friend's intentions was to actually...leave a few comments for those who are browsing the net from another place, to see that there IS oppression and BS going on in this city.
And yes, supporting the gateway project, is supporting oppression. As supporting the gateway project, will mess up some communities and homes...especially some Native friends of mines....
Aw man, those folks just made a blog recently and mocked you folks here, or at least from what I've noticed. If they wish to "compete," I guess we all who's against the 'gateway' project should spread the word HARD, and into the ears of people, while informing them the bad that will come if that 'gateway' project processes...
